We use IPL (Intense Pulsating Light) for permanent hair removal treatments.
Unlike laser treatments, that have one specific wavelength emitted from the diode, IPL has multiple wavelengths that scatter within the skin. As with all light based treatments, IPL works by emitting a wavelength into the skin, which in the case of hair removal targets pigment. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair. It quickly turns to heat which then kills the growing cells that make the hair.
This technology is painless and very effective. Our highly trained and experienced estheticians can achieve results for the average person from 6 to as many as 12 treatments depending on hair color and skin type to catch all hairs in their living cycle.
The average person can achieve desired results in as few as 6 treatments, while those with lighter pigmentation such as blonde and light red hair colours may require more sessions and additional methods to prepare the follicle for removal. As such, prices may vary based on individual consultations.
How Does The Treatment Work?
This light-based technology removes hair in three ways:
- Depleting the follicle by coagulating the melanocyte and matrix cells.
- Congealing the follicle capillaries with heat energy, which means less food and oxygen to the hair follicle.
- Triggering matrix cells to operate calcium pumps and exhaust the cell's energy, resulting in inhibition of the cellular metabolism.
Since everyone has different hair and skin types, the three processes compliment one another, so if one method is ineffective for your skin type, the two others will compensate.
